Chicken/Egg argument - if you want a Leica, there's no point in getting a body and not having a lens, eh?
My suggestion to anyone wanting to get into owning a Leica is get a M4-P and a 40:2 'cron and then a lightmeter to go with it. The M4-Ps are relatively inexpensive and had I known I would have easily considered purchasing one in place of my M6.
And whilst it is tempting to get a body before a lens, get the on you can afford first, then look hard for the second. I mean, you don't have to get a Leica body the first time round, nor a Leica lens the first time round - get a bessa if you're strapped for cash, then some 'cron glass to go with it. Or if you see a body going for a really good amount, purchase the body and get some voigt glass to put on it.
Or some Zeiss glass, the 35/2 biogon is a lovely lens, easily approaching the sharpness of the pre-asph 'crons, but a different bokeh and different colour rendition.
